Photoshop: GPU video driver problem opening CS5.1 on Mac

When I open Photoshop CS5.1 on my Mac os x, I now get an error message: "Photoshop has encountered a problem with the display driver, and has temporarily disabled GPU enhancements".

My video driver is an Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB. I can't find an update?

Any advise gratefully received - I need to get back into Photoshop to carry on working!

What version of OS X are you on? Have you tried restoring your prefs? http://blogs.adobe.com/crawlspace/201...

I'm using 10.9.5

I just tried restoring the prefs, following the steps in that video, but Photoshop then won't even open. When I copied the prefs file back into the library, Photoshop opened again - although still with the GPU problem..

I just tried the second method suggested in the video, but now Photoshop won't open at all - and I can't go back a step!

Might it be worth reinstalling Photoshop?

That is unlikely to help with a video card driver issue.
But I haven't seen other users on MacOS encountering that problem -- so there might be an OS install problem on your system. It is possible that there are some other factors (additional monitors, mirroring, etc.) in the configuration of the GPU causing the errors.

Resetting the prefs won't stop Photoshop from opening -- so I'm not sure what happened there.

I've turned the machine off and on again, and it's now opening Photoshop fine. Disconcerting, but at least it's working again for now!

Thank you for the suggestions, much appreciated.
