Getting Red Bars on My Display During Photoshop Editing

I'm using Photoshop CC on Windows, a Dell PC. Recently I've been getting red bars on my display after performing some operations. This happens especially after I add a "levels" correction layer, but can happen anytime during photo editing. Changing magnification, plus or minus, does not help. I'm working with larger files than I used to, so maybe that's it. Any ideas?

That sounds like a common (and old) video card driver bug.
Update your video card driver from the GPU maker's website.

Thanks for the reply. So I updated my ATI Radeon HD 4670 video card driver as you suggested. Rebooted. Still...red bars on my images. I'm wondering if I need more RAM. I've got 6 gigs.

Did you update from AMD/ATI's website, or Microsoft (mistake)?
And no, more RAM would not have an effect on that.

Unfortunately after that, the only suspects would be a bad video card or bad RAM.

Ok, well I can try swapping out some RAM. That won't cost much. Funny thing is that when I reduce the file size of my image, by changing the image size to something smaller, the red bars go away. Big files seem to bring on the red.

Once again thanks. I may see if I can get a new graphics card today too.

That makes it sound more like a video card issue.
You could try turning off GPU drawing and restarting Photoshop (which will then avoid the accelerated GPU features).

Well, Ok. I just took out all of my old RAM (6 gigs) and put in 8 gigs of new. So far...no red bars...I'm hoping here. If they return, I'll follow your advice (above). Thanks again. for now... I'm back in business!

Not in business. Red bars after 1 hour of working on Photoshop files. I guess I'm going to Best Buy for a new video card. Any recommendations?
