Getting the most from this forum: What does camera 'support' mean?

Generally, support for a camera is declared when Camera Raw, and by extension Lightroom Classic and the Lightroom Ecosystem clients can process a camera’s raw file.  Preliminary support is rarely declared in product release information when a camera has raw file support that is not yet fully tested. This can happen when a camera is released for sale very late in our release cycle.  Cameras which are released too late in the release cycle are usually supported in the following release.

Currently supported cameras can be found at this link:

Camera Matching Profiles:

Support for a particular flavor of a camera’s raw file does not necessarily mean that there will be Camera Matching profiles for that camera at the time of raw file support.  It is normal for Camera Matching profiles to follow raw support by one or two releases. In the case of some camera manufacturers or the event of major changes by a particular manufacturer, that time may be greatly increased.

Note: Not all cameras will ever receive a set of Camera Matching profiles.

Tethered Capture Support:

Select cameras are supported for Tethered Capture within Lightroom Classic. This list is separate from the supported list above. Support for Tethered Capture is often dependent upon the camera’s manufacturer to update their SDK which Lightroom uses to communicate with their camera. Due to this, support for tethering an individual camera usually follows a release or two behind the raw support release.

Note: Not all cameras will receive Tethered Capture support.

Camera support requests are made at the thread: which also contains additional information and links regarding camera support.
