PHOTOSHOP: Generated images often get needlessly padded

Generated images often (but not reproducibly) get needlessly padded. Simple shape layers will sometimes have extra padding—often hundreds of pixels—on one or more sides. No masks or named groups are involved. This is often resolved by renaming the layer, saving, then renaming it back.

Which version of Photoshop are you using?
And can you provide an example file that reproduces this problem?
