Fuji x100s open square format in Camera RAW

Hi everybody, recently I took some shots with my Fuji x100s. Usually I shoot in RAW but that time I needed jpeg also so I chose fine+raw image size. JPEG were 1x1 but RAW I guess remain to be the same 2x3. I use Photoshop Elements 13 for editing. Could someone explain why RAW opens in Camera RAW also in a square format? Perhaps I should change some settings in Elements to be able to open 2x3 RAW format? Thank you!

If you choose the Crop tool in ACR, then right-click on the image, and choose Set Original Crop from the menu, does the image become 2x3 or stay 1x1?

It is possible that the camera throws away the data beyond what the JPG shows, but it's also possible that PSE/ACR are honoring the in-camera crop and there is more data.

I know in Lightroom, the Crop tool has both As Shot (the 1x1) and Original (whatever the normal raw data has if the camera didn't throw anything away) that are distinct items. I am not sure if Set Original Crop in ACR does this or not.

If you want to upload one of your 1x1 raw files I can check in LR to see if it shows more data than a 1x1 crop. By "upload" I mean upload to www.dropbox.com and post a public share link in a message, here.

@Steve Sprengel, thank you very much for your fast and constructive replay! I followed your advice and it works in ACR. I just never crop my shots in ACR so even didn't try this function. Anyway, thank you! You solved it for me :)

Good to know that the ACR - Set Original Crop is equivalent to the Lightroom - Original in the crop aspect ratio settings.

Well, frankly, I didn't explain what probably I should have done. In fact, when I chose crop in ACR it opened immediately in original RAW size and my problem was solved, but if you choose Set Original Crop it would show 1x1 format again.

So if you open the image in ACR, it is 1x1, but when you click the Crop button, it switches to 2x3 and shows more, or is it only letting you crop the 1x1 version to an even smaller 2x3 crop?
