Photoshop: Freeze issues when duplicating folders whilst you have Perspective Warped linked files in a document

I'm using Photoshop 2015.5.1 on a Macbook Pro 10.11.6. I'm having serious issues when duplicating folders within a document or too a document that contains linked files which have been perspective warped. The duplication never completes and I have to force quit photoshop every time.

Can you provide a PSD and exact steps to reproduce? When you say "duplicating folders within a document" do you mean duplicating Layer Groups?

This issue sounds similar to another issue we recently investigate: https://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/smart-object-with-advanced-transform-crashes-photoshop-when-replacing-content-with-different-size

Hi Jeffrey, thanks for getting back to me. It sounds a little like the linked issue - but not quite.

I wont be bale to provide my PSD as the work I'm doing is under NDA. I've attached an image which should give you a rough idea of the setup. Essentially I'm designing a game HUD which has 3D perspective for elements on the left side and right side of the HUD. Each of these elements I've setup as separate psb docs which are then linked and I apply the perspective warp to each linked layer. There is also a bunch of other standard shape/text layers. The document size information says 5.93M/570.0M.

All I'm doing is duplicating a linked warped layer, and the spinner just keeps spinning. I've waited several minutes, but I'm assuming at this point that it's never going to complete the duplication.

Also if I delete all but one or two of the linked layers and then try duplicating it will work, takes 2 or 3 seconds to complete. I've just tried with with 5 of the linked layers and it hadn't done anything after 70 seconds, where I then force quit.

All of the linked files are relatively simple.

Hope this is enough to go on.

Cheers

OK. I'm trying to duplicate the issue with my own content, but no luck. I might not have all the secret ingredients. I'll keep trying but if you can create a dummy document (content that's not NDA) that easily repro's the issue, let me know.
