Photoshop Elements/Photoshop: Using custom brush tips

I recently did a photo and wiping my cursor across the photo left a trail of butterflies ( could be any shape) across the photo I think I used the custom shape tool but that only produces 1 image of shape. Im looking for multiple images in one swipe. I forgot the commands and cannot reproduce this. I dont need it now but not remembering is getting me nuts any help thanks tom

You are correct, the (Custom) Shape tool only makes one shape at a time. What you performed sounds more like you were using a custom brush tip for the Paint Brush:



The butterfly brush is under the "Special Effects Brushes" group (change your brush group by clicking the drop-down that says "Default Brushes" in the screen shot).
