Photoshop CS6: Font substitution not working in all cases

Font substitution not working.

After I hit ok to substitute a font it says "Selected font failed during last operation. If Problem persists, please disable the font."

Although I am very confused how to disable the a font if I do not have it... I am simply trying to select the text of a type layer of a font I do not have... in CS5 it would simply substitute the font and then I can select the text, and see the color/size. Now it just gives me the error after clicking ok. I searched around and it seems to be a unique problem with little to no information available. I am very confused, any tips would be great.

Howdy Geoffrey,

I think the problem is with the font you are substituting. That's a function of the font originally used and some heurestics to match 'em. Find the name of the missing font and the name of the replacement font and disable them both. I would also use the steps here (http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/t...) to help narrow the problem. Which OS are you on? Where did you get the fonts from? Have you enabled either East Asian or Middle Eastern text features?

Thanks,
David

You should read up on how to disable a font for the OS you're running.  On Windows, you just remove them and on Mac you can use FontBook to erase or suppress them.  Photoshop will work with whatever fonts your OS tells us are installed.

Thanks,

Hi Gareth,

What OS are you running?  What fonts are you working with (displayed as [fontName] in the Character Panel)?  What exactly are you seeing?  Are you running CS6?

Thanks,
David
