Lightroom: Imported Folders do not show images in navigator

Twice I've tried importing a PSE9 catalog into LR3.6 and have run into the same problem: On the folder named "2011 08 29" and all folders named with later dates, Navigator does not show the images in the folders. In all the folders with names representing earlier dates, all the image show. The images are there because they show up without issue in PSE9, in Bridge, in Windows Explorer, in imaging displaying programs, etc. Also, other parts of LR3.6 can see these images. For example, I imported keywords for each folder and if I click such a keyword in the list, the images are all there. Same thing for other keywords that might contain some of the image that can't be seen in Navigator. The same problem has previously been reported and discussed without a solution here:

It seems like this is a LR3.6 Navigator bug. A common feature of all the reports, including mine, seem to be that the databases are large. In my case, 60,000 and 62,000 images in the two catalog import instances.

I've tried the various suggestions mentioned in the thread cited above, but to no avail. In addition, I've renamed all the folders representing images taken in August 2011, but LR3.6 still will not show images in folders representing later dates.

This might not be such a problem if PSE9 didn't have lots of database errors itself that reduce its utility. In fact, I'm only trying to move up to LR to use its cataloging features -- I don't enjoy using LR to develop my images.

BTW, the common theme is that Adobe has problems developing bullet-proof cataloging databases, in contrast to its development capabilities, which are superb.

Lets hope the LR developers can figure out what the problem is PDQ!
