Lightroom: Folder Synchronize/Keyword Addition

I am running LR 2.7. When I bring new files into LR through the synchronizing folder feature, it adds one of my keywords to each imported photo. I can't figure out how to stop it from doing this; there are no keywords specified in the Auto Import Settings - where can I find the culprit setting?

It sounds like you are applying a metadata preset automatically. Unfortunately, I don't have 2.7 available to look at it, but in recent releases you can apply any metadata preset you like to an auto-import configuration.

I don't *think* folder synchronization should be influenced by auto-import configuration - right?

And, the folder sync should not apply any develop or metadata presets unless user elects to go through the import dialog box.

Are you going through the import dialog box A Walker?

Thanks for your comments. The steps I go through is right click on a folder, select Synchronize Folder from the context menu, it updates the folders and imports the photos, all of which have the keyword applied. There is no dialogue box. I'm thinking it is applying the keyword from a previous intentional instruction (i.e., apply a keyword during an Import From...) but I can't find where that instruction/data might reside (so that I can delete it).

You say there is no dialog box when you synchronize a folder? There should be a box like this:

Note the option that I've outlined in red.....selecting that will bring up the full Import Screen where you could then see if you have a keyword already entered in the Keyword Panel, OR if you have a Metadata Preset selected which itself contains the rogue keyword.

All academic of course if you don't get the first "Synchronize Folder" dialog box....so if you could confirm that we'll think some more.

I'm sorry, I mis-spoke. The above dialogue box does come up, but I have been proceeding with synchronizing without checking the 'show import dialog' option. Indeed, when I did that, it did come up with the full import screen and indeed, the culprit keyword was there. Going through the full import screen isn't an option I normally use for importing pictures, but must have once in the past. Thank you very much for the prompt advice; problem solved.
