Please add a flip/reverse gradient button and/or keyboard shortcut across the interface when a gradient is called for.
In Illustrator CC 2014 one has the ability to reverse the gradient in the gradient palette editor. It appears pretty consistent throughout the application when you try to edit a gradient that this option is available.

It also appears consistent in InDesign CC 2014.

In Photoshop CC 2014 one is able to do this in the options tool bar at the top but in a shape layer but nowhere else that I can find

Doesn't the apostrophe [ ' ] key work? (for Lightroom)

In Photoshop there should be a reverse checkbox pretty much everywhere that gradients are used (tool, content layers, layer styles, gradient map, etc.).

Is this really something some people do often? - I can't imagine it.

What I'd like is a way to tell which direction it's going - I frequently crank exposure so I can tell it's orientation.

Yes, it is -- they apply the gradient then decide they want it the other way, especially in fill layers and styles, and gradient map.

It is also a consistency issue. I have gotten used to the feature being in Illustrator and expect it to be carried throughout the suite. Maybe not so much for Photoshop because you can just rotate 180 in a lot of cases, but in After Effects and Premiere it would be very beneficial. If it ts part of the code base, it might also be possible for third party developers for plugins to take advantage of too I would think?

Again, there already is a reverse option on the gradients in Photoshop. But this site doesn't support AE or Premiere.
