Lightroom Classic: Flickr Plugin is Dead

Since Flickr migrated from Yahoo to AWS, the Flickr Plugin refuses to generate the required Flickr Account Authorisation page to allow a connection. 

Click on Authorise on the Plugin interface, and I get a dialogue box which says "Lightroom needs to configure your system to allow for authentication with Flickr. Please restart Lightroom after allowing these changes to be performed. If you envounter this message again upon re-start, re-installing Lightroom should address the problem"

What I would expect next would have been a Flickr page requesting permissions / authentication. Sadly, this page is not produced. 

Again, I've reported this to Flickr. Flickr point the finger at the Adobe plugin as being the culprit, as the plugin is what's responsible for connecting to Flickr. If Flickr don't receive the authorisation request, they say, they can't be responsible for the communication breakdown.

Hmm. I can authorize with either the Adobe or Jeffrey Friedl plug-ins. I wonder if it's a UK thing?

Noticed this issue sometime not too long ago at the user forum. Issue is Smugmug changed authentication requirements ir some such, one needs to disconnect/undo the current authentication, the re-Authenticate.

Un-authentication is easy. Hooking back up from Lightroom to Flickr is the hard part. Clicking the Authorise button should generate a Flickr page asking for permissions etc to enable Lightroom to do a "handshake" and connect. It doesn't in my case.

It's been reported. Flickr say it's up to Adobe. I've since installed the JF version of the Flickr plugin, and that works fine.

I just tried publishing from Lightroom Classic to a Flickr collection and was able to do without any issues.

Did you try disabling the Flickr plugin and enabling it back? Did you try removing the authorisation for Lightroom from Flickr's site and re-authorising again from Lightroom Classic?

I couldn't reproduce the issue.
Could you please provide us a screenshot of the same? Is it Lightroom Classic that displays the message?

Thanks for the replies folks.

Firstly, it's Lightroom Classic 8.1 that I have.

OK, let's see if I can do this step by step.
First, on Flickr, I've removed the permissions for Lightroom to connect, so it's expecting a "fresh start".
Next, on the Adobe Flickr plugin, I've revoked the account authorisation.



Next I click on the Authorise button and I get this...



I've pushed the dialogue box over to the side slightly so that you can see that the plugin is trying to authorise.  Anyway, clicking on the dialogue box's OK button, no doubt SHOULD result in the Flickr authorisation page popping up, but in fact it just produces nothing.

As I mentioned, I've installed the JF Flickr plugin, which went through a similar authorisation procedure without a hitch. So the theory that a pop-up blocker was getting in the way was put to rest too. 

So there you have it...I'm stuck, either looking for a quick fix for this plugin, or the (very) slow fix of migrating all my Flick albums over to the JF Plugin.

Obviously a solution to this problem would be much appreciated so that I can get on with my new photos and not have to spend time administering to my old ones.

Thanks, Martin for the details.

Could you please try the following - Click on Plug-in Manager in the Lightroom Publishing Manager dialog (bottom left), and select the Flickr plugin. Under the Status section, click on Disable, followed by Enable. Now, try authorizing the Flickr account again.

Also, please try running Lightroom as an Administrator. I am guessing some registry keys got messed up causing the above dialog to show up and preventing Lightroom from proceeding to Authorize your Flickr account.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'd done the disable / enable routine several times, but the Admin mode option was a new one to me...sadly though, it made no difference.

Could you share a snapshot of the registry keys? 
1. Hit Windows + R
2. Type regedit.exe
3. Navigate to Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\lightroom
4. Expand and share the screen-shot of the keys within the Registry Editor.

After waiting 5 minutes I got this: Could not contact the flickr web service. Please check your internet connection.
My internet connection is fine. I suspect this is a Windows 10 issue.
