I have owned and used PSE for over a year and it has worked great up to this point. Now when I open a photo in PSE, the tool I am using keeps "pulsing or flashing" every few seconds and I can't get it to stop. I also have CS5 and have used it tonite and no flashing occuring. Of course I have rebooted PSE several times but it keeps on pulsing. How can I get the pulsing to stop?? Frank

What OS?

What version of Elements?

And have you tried updating your video card driver?

OS is Windows 7 Professional. Version 7 of Elements. I have not updated my video card driver but this problem does not have anything to do with V C D.
This problem started this afternoon. CS5 works fine. PSE7 has worked for me for 18 months. This is something more simple. There is something very obvious that I am over looking to stop the pulsing/flashing. Thanks for your suggestions.

Certainly wouldn't hurt to try updating the video drivers so you can for sure rule that out.

Have you also tried restoring your prefs? http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Photoshop...

Is Elements up to date? (Choose Help>Updates... from inside Photoshop Elements)

I've never had a problem with video drivers. I have never updated them in 10 years thru 3 computers(Dells). Elements is up to date...Live update always on also. A friend is coming today to work on this. My guess is now that the folders with photos I am working on have JPEGs and NEF's and may try to separate the file types and see what happens.

OK. Found out at least what was going on and why. If you shoot both a JPEG and RAW (NEF) file and download both to desktop, then try to go in with PSE7 to work on the JPEG's, then this flashing will occur. At least it did in this case. Once I made a new folder inside the existing folder and separated the JPEG's and the NEF's, then I could work on the JPEG's with PSE7 and no pulsing. Now that this is stopped I am going to try the same thing with next shoot and see if the pulsing occurs until I separate the files. Once separated, PSE7 worked like it always has for 'fixing' the files- - no pulsing. *** I guess there's something PSE doesn't like about having the NEF files in the folder with the JPEG's when you go to work on them.....??!!!! THX for your help.
