I just updated the most recent update for Lighroom 5 and I am STILL having problems with it not responding after using it for a few mins. I am really irritated I have a dead line to meet to finish editing pics and I am not going to make it with Lightroom having issues. PLEASE FIX YOUR BUG!

In my experience, Not Responding, means the program is not accepting keyboard input due waiting on some other process or resource that is also waiting on something.

Mostly commonly I've seen this associated with memory allocation on a memory-starved system or when a hard-drive is almost full or is getting read-write errors. It can also happen if the connected device is failing or has become disconnected, such as a network share or network printer or even USB-connected smart-phone.

Because you say it happens after editing images for a while, I'd guess LR has used all available memory, and the computer is having to use much slower hard-disk space as virtual memory, which makes things very slow. Is the disk-access light on while the keyboard is not responding? Does LR eventually becoming active if you wait long enough?

No its a brand new computer with a 1 TBhard drive that's practically empty and my memory is 8GB of RAM that is also practically empty. I had no problems with Lightroom until I updated it. I even took Lightroom 5 offf and put Lightroom 3 back on and that works just fine.

Check the memory usage in Resource Monitor and see how much memory it’s using, and how much free memory there is in general, before and after it starts having issues. Presumably you have a 64-bit OS, not a 32-bit OS? And you’re using LR 64-bit not LR 32-bit?

Do you have a camera with very large raws like a D800?

I use LR 5.4 on an 8GB Windows 7 computer and a 16GB Windows 8 computer and don’t have issues like what you’re describing.

It’d be nice to figure out what is causing the issue.
