Fix the tethering issue with Canon 5Ds(r) cameras please.

When trying to tether a Canon 5Ds or 5Dsr the camera comes online then gets dropped. The program continues to cycle, picking up the camera then dropping it. If my client needs to see the photos on the computer during our shoot I have to switch to my 5D MIII. This should be on the top of the list of issues to fix. I need a solution today. Is that a different software solution or will this be addressed?

You could try and use the EOS Utility as the tethering agent and set LR to use an Auto Import folder of wherever the EOS Utility is putting its photos.

From your description it sounds like something might be interfering with the USB connection to the camera, either iffy hardware, or some other software also trying to talk to the camera.

If the EOS Utility also doesn't work then it's not LR.

Tethered support information can be found here: https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/...

As you can see by this document, tethering is not yet supported for this camera.

Canon hasn't yet released support for the 5Ds according to their page here:https://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consum... That support is normally requisite for introducing tethering support for a particular model.

But you can hack tethering to work by copying the code library from the EOS Utility over to the LR Tether plug-in subfolder:

Hi Steve,
Thanks for the reply. No iffy hardware. MBpro, 3.0 USB and EOS Utility works fine. Just can't get LR to work. Looks like it isn't supported yet.

But you can hack it into working if you want to.
