Lightroom Classic: Fix the clone/heal automated source selection function

Since the beginning of LR, the software doesn't reliably guess the source area for a clone or heal. I'd say 50% of the time it's waaaaay off. A good example is when I'm removing shine from skin in a portrait and LR chooses branches way off to the side as a good source. The other 50% of the time, mostly when I'm doing stuff with lines, Lightroom does choose a nearby line. But it's always (100% always) incorrect. See screens below.

Clicked on ceiling:

Notice how the source identified a region with similar color/gradients/adjacency but is off by dozens of pixels. Seems like a glitch in the algorithm. (same goes for Auto/Full/Vertical perspective correction - seems like the projections and line findings there also don't work - 100% fail on all 3 modes 100% of the time for me across thousands of images)

Do you see the same issue when using Camera Raw to clone/heal or is it just in Lightroom Classic?

And I've always have seen this issue in all versions of LR that had heal/clone across about 4 unique installs.

Clicked on vertical, too. Alignment is pretty off.

Can I add a request to enable the mousewheel to control feathering on heal/clone just like I can do on the adjustment brush? It's weird that they aren't the same.

When you use shift while turning the mouse wheel, what happens?

Shift locks it out. Does nothing.

Ah oh ok. I guess it's a different behaviour on a Mac.. Shift changes the feather on my Win system.

I am not sure if you are aware. You can use the KBSC "/" to ask Lr/ACR to try to find the next "best" source.
