I would like to see a little arrow to the right of the Title field in Lightroom, to find all images with the same title. It would look just like the arrow to the right of the "Folder", "Date Time Original" and other fields, and it would select all images with the same value for the "Title" field.

The document "IPTC Photo Metadata: Core 1.1/ Extension 1.1-CS5 Panels User Guidelines" says this about the title field:

Title [Title]
This field can be used as a shorthand reference for the image or “photograph” — primarily for identification. The title of an image should be a short, human-readable name — text and/or numeric reference —and may take several forms; for photographers this might be the filename of their original scan or digital camera file, for news organizations it might be the name of the story for which it’s to be used.

So, since this field is supposed to be used as unique string that ties together versions of the "same" file, it would be nice if Lightroom would facilitate this by helping us find all files with the same Title. Currently I have to do this by creating a smart folder each time I want to do a search, and the Smart Folder code doesn't even have a "Title equals" option.

Hi Alan,

In the Filter bar at the top of the grid view in Library, click "Text." From the first pop-up, select "Title." From the second pop-up, select "Contains All." Then in the text field, paste, or type in the title that you're looking for.

Not as straightforward as the arrow you're asking for, but it is something you can do right now to get the info you're looking for.

You can also save that as a preset. Once you've set the filter to search for a particular title, you can click on the pop-up on the filter bar, which will be labeled "Custom Filter" and choose "Save Current Settings as New Preset" and then name it and save it. Then later, you can just select that preset from the menu (that same menu also exists in the filmstrip panel at the bottom of the screen, on the right) and it will automatically bring up the saved search criteria.

Of course, you probably won't always want to be searching for the same Title text, but you can still select your preset from the menu, then type the new text into the text field, and that will save you a few clicks.
