Find double photos Lightroom cc

I have migrated a huge 1 TB catalogue from Lightroom classic to cc. As it turned out, there are many duplicated photos like “0001.CR2, “0001.CR2”. In LR Classic, I could have made a filter like “show all duplicate photos” - in CC this function is missing.

I thought about delete it in CC again, open the old archive catalogue there and delete the double photos with one click - but every catalogue is only allowed to be imported one time only.

Please add as soon as possible an intelligent filter that show all double photos for deletion purpose.

I scratch 3TB cloud space and there are sadly no 1TB steps to add in between (4TB, 3 TB).

Thanks a lot, my best

The plugin Find Duplicates is still working with Lr Classic CC on a Mac running with High Sierra.
You can find this plugin here: https://www.lightroom-plugins.com/DupesIndex.php

Hi

I have migrated the classic catalogue already - so lightroom CC already got double photos . A second Import won’t be possible I guess ? In LR classic it wasn’t obvious that there are duplicates - so I did not see. There are around 20.000 duplicates .. delete them manually within the app frame will be exhausting ;-)

Is the only option maybe to search within the Finder in LR CC for double ones and delete it there?

My

Best and thanks

Did you try to install find duplicates?
Any how you do, save the  catalog using the Finder
Then try the plugin and mark all picture as to be deleted. (X) key
Then select only the "to be deleted" pics and erase them in the catalog and in the finder all in the same time.

Thanks for your comment.
I had migrated the classic catalogue already and it says it cannot be imported again ... so at the moment I have to manually delete all double and triple files ... sometimes, it marks the second one as well when I delete it, sometimes it doesn’t and handle the double photo as another photo and not in a stack. So i have to be very carefully not to accidentally delete a set of the same photos, when Lightroom doesn’t recognize it as stack.

I suppose it’s because of virtual copies in classic -now be saved in the cloud as its own picture.

May be the option to open in the finder to the new Lightroom CC folder and delete there all double cr2? Will that be synced back to CC?

I guess from 40.000 pictures is everything double to triple.
the original classic catalogue was 1 TB of data, after migration it was OVER 2 TB. :-( and I did not have from every photo a virtual copy....

I had a look into the classic catalogue - it says 900 pics are double. But this can’t be true - yesterday I deleted around 6000 photos that were double and not in classic. Weird?

I think you can save the catalogue with a new name and import again?

Mart,
If you want to try to find the duplicated files one very effective is the app. Gemini from MacPaw -https://macpaw.com/fr/gemini

Here is a first idea:
On the other way, you must normally have a backup of your catalog. This Backup is still in the the before LR version.
If you didn't made any changes into LR, you should perhaps be able to recover a good situation after having deleted the duplicated files using Gemini.

Second idea:
Try to use the last version of plugin Find Duplicates -https://www.lightroom-plugins.com/DupesIndex.php
Personally I am still using a very old version that is still working.
You will be able to to kill the dupes (in one step) and adapt you catalog.

Third idea:
If your duplicates are having always the same final like 0001.CR2 or similar, you can create a Dynamic collection based on "file name" search "ending"  "0001.CR2" . This will give you a list of all files finishing with your search value

Well thanks For your great tips .. sadly the catalogue contains itself 60.000 photos
. Deleting it from cc again is a long way to go :-(

Strange thing: in LR classic catalogue; Pics are NOT double or triple. In CC then it is duplicated by any reason ... so I can’t delete them before migrate again (and may this be a problem too - migration only allowed 1-time)

I guess this will be up to 600GB extra space if deleted the automatic. added duplicates..

May a last option be: delete manually duplicated in CC (uff) and add photos by dragging the classic folder from finder to CC; to see if there are photos missing at the end? Or wait for update?

tackling sth in a roundabout way haha
