Premiere Elements: Crashing and codec issues

do not buy premier at any price if you currently use Final Cut. I have been using both products since 2003 and my goal is to get back to apple. I am stuck with Premier V.9 and do not believe anything about it working well with windows 7. The only reason I can work around the many issues is because I understand how to edit videos. I have purchased version 3, 6, 8 and 9 and version 3 worked the best on XP but only after it was in the field for 4 years, not when I first purchased it. It looks like final cut until you actually use it and I have logged 8000 crashes on my new dell computer that is suppose to be built to work with premier. Keep avid or final cut they are solid programs that work well.
I thought because you are adobe you would be a good company but that was a long time ago. The problem is linked to the to your adobe account and I can not believe anything I am told because my own experience. There has been some improvement over this past year all I would like to do is to have the product perform as advertised. Instant editing is a joke and why use these resources when they are useless. They only play back issues I have are with your products and all of my new stuff has been made with adobe.
My new window 7 Dell give me error wrong codec and the video was just made on the computer and works everywhere but adobe.
final cut costs more but it works. The problems premier has were fixed by apple 4 years ago so premier to me was a mistake but I can not afford to change again. I have purchased a new system last year lenovo on the recommended list after 4 months returned and was refunded. I trusted that Dell and Premier work but they do not. I can not even make a 30 second video without system crash and reboot. same core problems slightly enhanced but if you are use to the problems with apple I can tell you that I would do anything to get back to final cut.

Hi Jason, Premiere Elements shouldn't be crashing as you report. Have you worked with anyone in support to debug your problems?

I'm a bit confused because you mention Final Cut and Dell/Lenovo in the same breath. Final Cut doesn't run at all on Windows based computers.

Also, Final Cut is also more comparable to <Premiere Pro 5.5 in terms of feature set, although that has changed more recently with the release of Final Cut Pro X.

Jeffery,

Your right final cut is not a windows program that was my point. You are running a sales promotion on your web site and in your mailing with a 50% discount , maybe something that might not have known about. So far in my 8 years of dealing with your company I have never spoken to anyone in sales, support or even level three tech support that really edits and knows your product as well as me. I know how to work around the constant trouble shoot because these issues were resolved about 4 years ago in final cut. You do photos the best but in video you look good until you start cutting a film . In you use Final cut on a power mac do not think about even trying your product. I challenge you to find one qualified professional editor who would say they tried your premier and like it better than apples. Before you get to the software, apples operating system software is solid, stable and 10 times better than anything windows. If you know final cut pro, which I do not think you do, is why you do not understand my post. My point to anyone who works with avid or Final cut pro do not waste the time or the money. You missed the part about the premier i purchased in 2003 that did not work properly until 2008. From 2003 - 2007 I worked on a power mac with Final Cu but I thought I could replace the apple with an IBM based on the version 3 product after it finally worked properly. Jeffery I wanted your product to really work more than you think. It works if you know nothing about what to expect and what you can do. If I tried to learn on your premier I would be lost. The mac and Final cut are worth every penny of the triple the cost because of the amount of wasted time trying to keep windows and premier working properly. Go ahead and respond but if you do not really edit with passion and if you do not know final cut, i will warn you that I was a national debate champion and anyone who uses final cut will understand my words, If some wants to be a tech support person buy this product because windows you and google crash and burn each other

I currently have had over 800 events like this between windows and premier. I tech support myself based on all the time I have wasted with your support people who know nothing.
You should not worry about features in premier until you make the basics work properly
so far in 3 month I have had 8000 events with your product lol

Furthermore, the product stopped working completely and I only was able to make it work again by having you delete my account with history because even though I have been informed that the online subscription has nothing to do with the product working I was then able to make it work again. See it worked for 30 days and then my subscription from the version 8 that I returned and was refunded for but not the subscription. I was not going to buy a subscription that you should refunded me for the previous year but did not I stupidly thought I would be able to resolve the subscription and get someone to look at my case and see why the right thing to do would have been to extend of resolve it without me having to buy it again so it would match with the product that I stupidly thought would work well with a Dell XPS Studio computer. but I was wrong.

I am amazed by the duplication of issues that are deeply rooted in the core of the product and based on my life with premier from version 3 - 9 i would guess that the lead design engineer left this product after version 4 which is why you keep adding features while you should be making the product solid. If you edit film to become motion picture art 99% of what you do is cut, connect, and score and title. How many crashes will it take for 30 seconds of video at least 100

Hi Jason,

I used to cut video with both Avid Media Composer and Final Cut Pro prior to working at Adobe - granted that was over 10 years ago.

I notice that you're running Premiere Elements 9.0.0. There was an update (9.0.1) that was released last year (12/20/2010) that doesn't appear to be installed on your system based on your event report above. That may have something to do with your problems. You may also want to make sure that your video drivers up to date as well.

for all the support you have it is very disappointing to me that not one one person could look at my case and the first thing I would have liked to have resolved was the version 8 subscription. That subscription should have been extended. I only purchased it on version 8 because your first level of support 1.5 years ago sold me the upgrade to help resolve my issue then that were never resolved, which was why you refunded me for the version 8. Rather than chase you for the $50. i stupidly thought it was going to be happy with the dell purchase and I am writing this as punishment to me for allowing myself to be here with my dell and premier that I should have spent with apple, it really my own fault. I believed because of who adobe is you would get it right and problems would be resolved. I do not use your support but i tried too in 2008 and if you could find my detailed information I sent you and review it the same core issues related windows disk cacheing and memory handling and these are still the main issues and it is a progressive disconnect but I never spoke to anyone in 4 months that knew anything about using the product and how that effects the system. I am not an engineer but i understand technology and you have to support yourself with film editing because problems will always exist. Apples handling of this function is superior than windows. Anyway i hope you fix this product. On windows 7 the product works until about 3/4 of the windows updates starting from windows 7 on a newly formatted hard drive and then you pc becomes terminal. Since I have done this twice i e how I finished the two videos on my web site. Is should have taken me 2 week not 3 months.

Jeffery its been nice venting if you read my emails and your standard adobe responses and links this is so funny to me. I am dreaming to think someone at adobe would review the purchase history of jason Sparks 250 w 19 NY, NY with jason curtissparks@hotmail.com, jasoncurtissparks@gmail.com and jasonsparksnyc@aol)? (that one I have to check). for jasonsparks.photoshop.com JCSparks.photoshop.com look at my activation history and look at the timeline and at least respond to one issue with the personal touch of involvement. I am sure I was filtered away from anyone but you seeing my information. You people treat me as if I am the problem because i wont go away from expecting your product to work properly. I am going to disappear from you soon and maybe two or three years this product might work. I will not even take a job if premier is required even though its all i have to use for another month.
