When exporting a batch of images, it would be really helpful to know approximately how large the file / batch would be given the settings selected.

Why important?
There are numerous constraints to consider when sending files clients, such as:
can I get it all one 1 CD?
will this all email in one go?
How long will it take to upload?
so to be given the facts up front would save a lot of hassle later.

You may want to consider making this a feature request / "idea" instead of a question, since there is no way to do it in Lightroom now.

This could also be handled by plugin, but I'm not aware of any that will do this exactly (meaning report total approximate export size ahead of time), but maybe somebody else knows of one.

There is however a free plugin that will distribute exports into even chunks for such purposes. Feel free to send me a private message for details if you want to.

Another option which may help (dunno if you already know about this) is to constrain exports by filesize, then the total maximum export size can easily be calculated (number of files times filesize). Although this was very problematic last time (the only time) I tried it, as it was for the person I was trying to help solve their problem with it. May be fixed by now or not problem for you...
