File Unsupported or damaged Lightroom v5.4

After editing a RAW file, exporting it and then reopening Lightroom some files randomly come up as being damaged. The only way to over come this is to replace the file with one from my backup folder. This has been happening for several releases not just the current 5.4 release. How can I stop this from happening?

This would suggest you have a hardware problem with your computer. It's often due to dying hard drives or dodgy RAM, but there's a variety of possibilities so it'll be a process of elimination to find the problem hardware.

Drobo's fail too. It doesn't necessarily need to be a hard drive - it can also be the connection to the hard drive, especially on external drives of any description.

I would agree totally with Victoria. Smells like a drive failing.
