The File>New From Clipboard feature, in my opinion was a very nice feature that avoided having to save a photo, or non-copyrighted screen capture etc. to a file first. I wish Adobe's software writers would add this feature back to the new Photoshop CC. Please advise.

New from Clipboard is still present. If you have something on your clipboard and choose File > New... the dialog will populate with Clipboard as the document type along with all the associated dimensions and settings to match what's on your clipboard.

I was using the "File>New>Image from Clipboard" recently, but I tried it again just now and it's grayed out. How do I make it active?

You have copied something to the Clipboard? That's how it becomes active, and it's definitely still working here—usually in my way, as a matter of fact.

If you know you've copied a file to the clipboard and it's not working, there could be a problem with your Preferences that might be fixed by deleting them and starting fresh, but do first save any presets you have created. Or you can move the old preferences to another location and then move them back if deleting preferences doesn't help.

Yes, I copied a screenshot to the clipboard. I also get a message that "A link to your screenshot has been copied to your clipboard" ---which comes from something called "Dropbox". I'm not sure if Dropbox is part of my OS10 Sierra, or a secondary program, but it's been on my computer before this problem developed.

I don't have any special preferences selected, so I can delete them and start over, but as far as I know I've never altered the preferences. All I see there is "Preferences>General>Reset" and that doesn't change anything.

This is for Elements 14.

Well, if "A link to your screenshot has been copied to your clipboard", that means your clipboard doesn't have the image anymore, just the url of the image, which Ps can't process.
Sometimes dropbox, evernote and other third parties add new functionalities that interfere with your usual shortcuts.
After getting this message, I'd first go to a web browser to see what gets pasted, I suppose it will be a link. Of your image.

Thanks Franck, I suspected something like that, but I thought I'd been using Elements earlier without this problem, even though I had Dropbox then. Maybe my memory is incorrect.
I do have another problem with copied images on my Mac not being paste-able into email messages. My Windows machine doesn't have that problem.

Jeffrey Tranberry: I've noticed that sometimes it is possible to place JSX script to a different location than: File> Scripts
It could be placed directly to the File menu?
Maybe simple script could solve it.

We have to do some special work to make scripts work outside the normal places they normally work. You could write a script and and map a Keyboard Shortcut to it.

I am doing it, but I want do my scripts even better :-)

The special work looks like this I guess
// BEGIN__HARVEST_EXCEPTION_ZSTRING
<javascriptresource>

    <menu>export</menu>
    <enableinfo>PSHOP_DocHasLayerComps</enableinfo>
<eventid>cf34b502-2013-4d07-8431-1dfd634ee0cd</eventid>
<terminology><< /Version 1

                         /Events <<

                          /cf34b502-2013-4d07-8431-1dfd634ee0cd [($$$/JavaScripts/LayerCompsToFiles/Action=Layer Comps to Files) /noDirectParam <<

                          >>]

                         >>

                      >> </terminology>
</javascriptresource>
// END__HARVEST_EXCEPTION_ZSTRING
But I am not able to reproduce it with my script and place the menu item where I want :-( Or this is not possible without Photoshop rebuilding and modifications in core are required?

Hi all, I need to create a new Clipboard preset. I've been searching through a lot of forums and have found many that describe how to create and save a new preset for the File-Open dialogue, but all of them involve creating a new preset with particular preset values for the width and height parameters, which is not what I'm searching for. What I want to do is create a new preset that is just like the Clipboard preset, except that the pixel resolution is always 300 instead of the default setting of 72. After creating such a present, I find that whenever I use it, I do get the 300 ppi setting, but I also get the width and height settings from what they were in the editor session in which I created the new preset. That editor session does not allow me to delete the width and height settings or replace them with a wildcard character such as *.

So my question is, is it possible to create a new version of the Clipboard preset, or edit the existing Clipboard preset, such that the width and height are taken from the contents of the clipboard, as with the stock Clipboard preset, but with the ppi set to 300?

Thank you.

That sounds like something a script can do. It's not a preset, because that's as you've seen. Hopefully a good script person will see this, or perhaps you know someone who is good at scripting?
