Photoshop: File name and extension highlight when saving on macOS 10.15 Catalina

Hello. After last updates (Osx Catalina and CC 2020), when the save window appear, the focus, highlite, is on all the file name and extension instead only the filename. I suspect the issue is related to Catalina, but I ask if anyone has noticed the same thing. My working speed is affected and I would like to know if anyone has a solution to ensure that only the file name is highlighted (in save and export).
Thank you
Michele

Still the same issue after updates to both Catalina and Photoshop itself is kind of ridiculous. But what can we do? We're all f&(@'d.

THAT'S THE MOST ANNOYING THING EVER! It has slowed down my workflow a lot and it's taking time and money just to look for a fix on the internet. As a photoshop heavy user since 2003, that's the first time I have to write asking for any solutions on an issues related board. FIX THIS, Adobe!

How is this still an issue 6 months later?  You get we open Photoshop to save files, right?  And it's failing at this completely basic task.

One of the benefits of forcing everyone to pay for these apps forever were quick updates, what happened to that?

I'm so thankful to find this thread. This has been a huge waste of time to have to use my cursor to name the file. It used to be so straight forward and didn't require more mouse work. I'm adding myself to the list, with a plea that this be fixed!

Same here. Small annoyance just once or twice but infuriating to deal with everyday for weeks/years.

I don't have this issue with Illustrator or PS on Windows.

Please fix!

Keeping up with this thread because I have this problem as well. What's interesting is I regularly use 3 different apple computers (2 iMacs, 1 Macbook) that are all up to date with Catalina and have the same versions of Photoshop, but I only have this problem on one of them. Truly baffling.

With every small update I hope that this will be addressed and it's so irritating that it hasn't been. It just destroys my workflow to have to worry about the file extension every single time. And the duplicate alerts about overwriting files! What's the deal, Adobe?!

Only one of your Macs? That is kind of baffling. First I've heard of it not being on all Macs so I wish I could get hands on the one that works to try and figure out what makes it not a problem. Obviously people come to this thread since they are having the issue but if its not on 100% of the Macs that should make finding a fix easier for Adobe.

You can use scripts in this topic, and actions, to quickly save for web with one button - if you're using same settings each time.

21.2 release out today and this is still the issue still persists. Same behavior in Photoshop and Illustrator. HOWEVER, in Indesign, an save as or Export command does not show the extension in the top text bar, the only way you know the extension is by looking at the bottom toggle dropdown selector. So not sure why they can't just script it to remove adding the extension in editable text line and and add it after hitting SAVE or EXPORT.

I finally called Adobe yesterday about this, since the latest release (7 months into CC 2020) did nothing to address this problem.

They actually ARE aware of the issue, it's a known MacOS Catalina incompatibility, that I was told will be addressed in a future release. They then patted me on the head, gave me a cookie and said, "now run along and let us laugh behind your backs at the money we rake in while frustrating you to no end". (actually, the transcript will show that the tech simply hung up, but... Iknow what i heard.)

It looks like macOS Catalina 10.15.5 and Photoshop 21.2.0 did not resolve this.
The workarounds that I have been using are to either change the Format pop-up to something else and then changing it back (like Photoshop to Large Photoshop Document then back to Photoshop) or to move the text prompt with right arrow once, then left arrow four times, then shift up arrow.   Both get you to where you have just the filename selected without the ".psd".  Neither is ideal, of course.

On my iMac that's still running macOS 10.13.6 High Sierra, it still works as expected.

This just goes to show how once a company becomes so big with such proliferation into the design community, just how little they actually care about their user base. As a developer myself, the amount of actual coding time required to fix an issue like this is minimal. But like so many other software companies these days, more time is spent trying to "WOW" us with new features instead of fixing the core functionality that doesn't work. Shame on you Adobe. I've been using you since you were a 6 inch stack of 3.5 floppy discs. You have truly lost your footing with the people that made you who you are today. Perhaps we need another 2020 movement - "Photoshop Users Matter" ... maybe with enough press something would actually get done about it.

Friendly reminder this is a problem with Mac OS, not Photoshop!  I have the same file name selection problem with non-Adobe programs since the Catalina update.

I agree with you Ted in that it's certainly an issue that originated with the launch of Catalina. And there's certainly an argument that can be made about all the things that Catalina has screwed up. However to be fair, it's no longer an issue with any of my Microsoft products on Catalina - they not only apparently found a solution to the problem, but dedicated resources to fixing it. So, yes it originated with Catalina, but it's not something that couldn't be addressed if Adobe really wanted to address it.

Agree that Catalina launch was when it started but other apps have found a fix in fact even other Adobe apps. Indesign does not show the extension on the file name during saves and or exports to PDF/JPG/PNG etc. so should be as simple as Ps team walking over to Id team and saying how did you do that. But the silo nature over there between products makes that an unlikely conversation.
