Lightroom - resize option before photomerging

One thing would make my life easier by saving processing time when stitching or stacking for panos would be to be able to have a resize option - similar to that in the Export feature.
I shoot with a 5D mk 3 and full size jpg and raw. So - now in Lightroom 5 when I select a group of photos for a pano I have to Export the resized photos then re import the result; or to use the full-size I right-click/Edit in/Merge to Panorama in Photoshop - it takes me directly to Photomerge in Photoshop and can take ages to stitch even with an i7/32 gig of RAM/2 Gig graphics PC.
I'd like to see a pop up before going to Photoshop to resize the photos I've selected to make the stitching/processing time shorter and to be able to more easily and quickly see the result before deciding if it's worth spending time on a larger, or RAW version.
Sure, the resizing may take a bit of time but perhaps this could be turned on or off in preferences? Also this option would make working when travelling on a laptop better. This feature would help mobility in the Lightroom/Photoshop integration and would be less dependent on the latest and greatest processor/RAM/Graphics card combination - and to be able to post to Facebook or other web sites much more practical.
