Feature Request: Auto Font List Preview Characters

How would you like the feature to work?
Displaying the characters 'Sample' to preview fonts in the font list is of limited practicality. A far more useful option would be for the font lists to automatically display the 1-6 (or better yet, 1-15 or 1-30) first characters of any selected text. For example, if an editor wants to compare how the '&' character looks in different fonts, doing so would be as simple as typing and selecting the desired character(s), which would automatically get displayed in the font list in each installed font. (note: when no text is selected, the generic 'Sample' characters could still be displayed in the font list.)

Why is this feature important to you?
Auto Font List Preview Characters would be so much more user friendly and intuitive than the current 'Sample' preview, since it would allow users to preview the specific characters they want to compare in different fonts.

This is a feature that should be implemented in all other relevant Adobe programs as well, especially AE, Premiere Pro and Illustrator.
