I would like to switch to the new Lightroom CC, but being able to sort images in my collections/albums by Custom/User Order like I can in Classic is an absolute requirement for my workflow.

Any news? It's really annoying, how can you use Lightroom CC to edit your photos when you... cannot edit them? Come on, it's a 100% priority!

For now I have to manually change filenames in a sequence I wish to appear and select sort by filenames in Lightroom CC. Await for the new fix from Adobe!

Am I right in thinking this still is not implemented?

Very disappointing to see these messages over the span of 2 years for something very basic.

Without being able to organise photos inside an album the software doesn't make any sense. I, for now will use the file renaming method as John Huang has mentioned in a previous post but am truly perplexed by this missing functionality.

I totally agree!
This feature is imperative to be able display the images how I want to see them.

There is a Custom Order option from the Sort menu in Lr CC but even when ticked it doesn't allow you to drag the images around to change the order like you can in Classic. Why can't it upload and present the images in Lr CC in the sequence shown in my Lr Classic Collection?

This doesn't seem to be a tall order but yet it's still not implemented. Come on Adobe, get your finger out!

The ability to set a Custom Order within the cloud ecosystem exists in LrWeb, LrMobile and LR Classic (LrDesktop will DISPLAY the Custom Order, but cannot yet to used to set it). Sure, it would be good if all the apps in the system had the identical features, but we have to remember that all these apps have been developed in different timescales on different platforms, and while convergence remains a goal of Adobe it will likely take some time to fully deliver it.

The effort to deliver convergence also has to be balanced against the goal of continued development and delivery of new features, so provided I can achieve what I need to do somewhere in the system I'm usually prepared to accept the current balancing act (albeit sometimes reluctantly). Not everyone will see things the same way, of course.

In terms of the specific Custom Order functionality, I use LrWeb almost exclusively for that purpose as it additionally allows "story-telling" in the form of added text and separators, which is very useful when sharing albums.

Jim - I think everyone understands the balancing act software developers need to play. Our point is they are currently getting it wrong, and this needs to be prioritized.

NEED the custom re-order feature as it has been for years. It should be standard that you can reorder images manually - drag and drop - in the software application! Necessary for efficient workflow. Gob-smacked this wasn't considered necessary as THE leading photo editing/management software in the marketplace.

IT IS RIDICULOUS THAT THIS IS AN "IDEA" AND NOT A "PROBLEM" AND HENCE EQUALLY RIDICULOUS THAT WE HAVE TO VOTE FOR AN OBVIOUS MISS !!! ALBUMS TELL STORIES AND WE NEED TO BE ABLE TO RE-ORDER AT WILL !!

Don't worry about idea vs. problem. There's just an internal designation - if something's working as it was initially designed then a change is an enhancement rather than a bug fix. To us, the end result is essentially the same.

And the votes just help prioritize which bugs/features get done first, because there's lots of obvious improvements yet to be made.

Victoria, you or whoever from Adobe is monitoring this is completely dropping the ball on this matter. It’s just hilarious you keep defending this is just an ‘idea’. This is a basic feature as everyone else has pointed out and missing because it’s just not on the radar since it’s prioritized as an ‘idea’. Please share how we can escalate this matter to the right persons at Adobe. We have been waiting for over two years for something so simple and something that has been existing in ANY photo album organizer since dot.com area. Can we drop a complaint somewhere or any other way the Dev team can explain why they still haven’t fixed his PROBLEM!!!

Get lots of people to vote. More votes = higher priority.

Just ignore the fact that Adobe calls it an idea rather than a problem. It's essentially the same thing, it's just an internal designation.

Seriously, please addresss this. This feels like basic functionality.

Round-tripping with my iPad is a stupid workaround.

Thank you

I have talked to higher-ups at adobe on the lightroom team, they have been aware of this issue for some time now. Honestly, I don't expect them to fix this anytime soon. I had to reorder massive collections as a remedy.

What surprises me is that we have only 74 votes for this issue. I’d have expected hundreds of votes for such a basic and simple feature that has indeed been existing in any other album organizer. It’s a shame that this essential function is missing in a pro software system from a major specialized vendor, who uses an expensive subscription model. People, please press rhe vote button !

Hi all; I’ve been tracking this a while. I agree it’s remarkable that even today Adobe hasn’t enabled useful custom sorting on the desktop Lightroom cc. (Or robust exporting). And it’s genuinely inconveniencing for serious workflows. That said, and though I’m sure some if not most of you already know this, I just wanted to mention that one can custom sort on iPad or iPhone Lightroom and the order remains on the desktop version. This is my current work around. And Adobe, you might want to consider that number of votes isn’t necessarily reflective of importance to professional users. A lot of us are too busy to dedicate time to write posts like this, and instead just feel irritated and limited by the glaring absence and look for alternatives. Love a lot of what you do, it’s just that this is so ABC level that I’m amazed I’m still having to rely on a time consuming and often frustrating workaround.

I have spent hours trying to sort my pictures in an album so I can present them in the order I want in a slide show.  I with those who find it very hard to believe that this hasn't been fixed yet.

Fully agree with all the frustrated comments.  The only reason I hadn't voted until now is because I am a techno-peasant and only just figured out how!  I only wish I could vote a million times.....

Yes! Finally ;) They also add some export options but I can’t see why there’s still no way to export in 300 dpi :/
