LR FEATURE REQUEST

PROBLEM:

For every shoot I bring in I make a new Collection Set and within it up to 10 Smart Collections, based on flags, stars, labels, keywords, etc. Right now, each Smart Collection has to have within it the same first rule to only look at the particular shoot it is for.

Then I need to replicate this structure for every shoot, which gets tedious.

SOLUTION:

Smart Collection Sets & Duplicate Smart Collection(s)

The Smart Collection Set would be the top level filter. Then each Smart Collection within would only filter based on flags, stars, labels, keywords, etc. and not need it's own rule to only look at the particular shoot.

Then, with Duplicate, I could duplicate my collection structure and then just change the Shoot Name in the top level Smart Collection Set.

Take a look at my Workflow Smart Collections at http://lightroomsolutions.com/article... (sample catalogue)

The key is a dumb collection called Current Work and each of the smart collections includes a criterion line to specify photos only in that collection.

So a new job means either replacing the existing contents of Current Work with the new pictures, or changing the existing Current Work's name and creating a new Current Work.
