Feature Request: Export ALL custom settings prior to Prefs Reset

When PS Prefs are reset to resolve corrupted prefs etc., many custom settings are reset to default. Many these settings have to be manually reset, and can't be exported. (except by saving a COPY of the prefs file -which itself could be corrupted, or not current with ALL recent settings). In addition, Color Settings, Actions, Workspace, and other options must each be exported MANUALLY. Would it not be possible to export ALL non default settings in a single action, PRIOR to Prefs Reset? This would be a huge timesaver, esp if prefs are reset often.

Not objecting, but do you know that you can record an action setting up the Preferences panel to your liking? You should start with those all set to their default so you can change them when recording the action, but that's what I used to do.

Now I actually prefer going through the Preferences panel and re-creating my settings because I find new preferences often sneaked in behind my back, and this alerts me to them.

Of course, since Adobe still hasn't provided us with Sync options again like they promised when they removed the feature, you will still have to manually save all those things to disk and I'd also advise manually backing up to some other drive.

Thanks. That all makes sense. but I made a FEATURE REQUEST for a full settings backup option. Honestly can't believe that doesn't already exist.

Yes, that's the request that's been around for ages. They gave us Sync Settings, told us the server they were using was inadequate to it or something, they would bring it back later, but they didn't clarify that "later" meant years and years later.

We've also asked for them to simply bundle them for us so we can save them to our choice of location without trying to locate them all in their various folders, whether or not they permitted us to store them in the cloud (so we could easily transfer them to another computer or share with colleagues). But that's not happened either.

That's closest to what you said, but I want the whole shebang, not just what settings have individually been customized.  Plus, I don't want them to save my presets and actions for me. I do that myself. It's saving the Settings file that determines what's loaded that I think needs to be possible—and whenever I say it should be.

I understood you were requesting more than an action to mark your Preferences for you, but there's nothing I can say to it that hasn't been said and so far ignored. But it has already been a long wait and may be a much longer wait for this—so my remarks were just towards a means of alleviating, not removing, an annoyance.
