This conversation has been merged. Please reference the main conversation: Photoshop: Feathered layer masks don't render correctly in Classic or macOS Preview

Based on your latest release of Adobe Photoshop Desktop 21.0.1, the "Feather" function of the "Layer masks" is not honored once you save the file and it's rendered in Adobe Bridge or Capture One.

Any changes you made to that layer, with the Layer Mask "Feathered" will render as if you never applied a Layer Mask at all. In essence, using the "Feather" feature will render your Layer Mask useless (once you save the file and view it outside of Photoshop).

This isn't happening on my Mac running Mojave. I clearly see the feather in Bridge. I also can view it in the Finder. It's there if I open with Preview. Affinity Photo doesn't understand PS's live feathering, so it keeps the mask without a feather, but I don't know what else to do to replicate your issue. I don't have Capture One.

What OS are you on? Is there anything special about the file itself? If you draw a blob, mask some of it, feather the mask, and save it to the desktop, this is still an issue?

Yeah, I'm not able to replicate this as well. Can you post a file to dropbox or CC files that you're having trouble with previewing?
