In general screen redraw in Photoshop CS6/CS5/CS4 is very fast, when the GPU is enabled. But if you have many layers, many blendmodes, layereffects etc. screenredraw can get pretty slow, no matter if GPU is enabled or not. The actual compositing is done on the CPU, right? The problem, for example, is that if you make a layer visible or invisible (eye checkbox) or, if you move objects/layers around, it can take one or more seconds until the screen updates. Is there a way to speed this up in CS7? Could compositing be done on the GPU and would that help? Or are there better ways?
