Implement instant-preview feature into Library module that 1) works without a need to import photos and/or 2) during the import process. Something similar to FastPictureViewer that enables one to skim through photos very fast and has _instant_ previews and zoom-in without need to import the photos. This would be a great improvement to LR's pick-and-choose part of the workflow.

The current import process takes quite long time especially when generating 1:1 previews.

Lightroom already does this in the import module. The only problem is it is not instant.

No, LR does not have this. The whole point of this tool is _instant_ image view and 1:1-zoom of RAW files without need to import those.

Pls checkout FastPictureViewer. It opens and zooms-in 25MB RAW-files instantly. Very handy for picking up images to import.

You are mistaken. LR does do this in the import module. You can preview and zoom. The issue is that it does not do it very well. There does not seem to be a predictive caching process to have the next image ready. I find this frustrating too, and I use Photo Mechanic when I have a large shoot to review.

Hi Rory, you are right. LR supports relatively fast previews in import stage - this was new learning to me. However, LR does not support:
- Moving to next/previous image in single-Image-view
- Image strip in single-image-view for quick image selection
- comparison view (well, FPV does not support this either)

And the previews could be faster.

So the LR functionality does not properly support pre-import-photo-filtering/selection use case.
