Lightroom facebook plugin. I've noticed that although my Lightroom export settings for FB are highest quality, they seem to still get compressed when viewing in FB. My only way around this is skipping the plugin and exporting the files then uploading to FB separately. Fix for this?

So are the manual uploads not being compressed by Facebook Jenny?

Correct. When I load them manually with the "High Quality" box checked them come in crisper. I first noticed because of the export wait time through the plugin was much shorter than the manual and I know the "High Quality" manual always takes a little longer. Then I compared the look and found the plugin export was slightly off. It's as if it's loading without the "High Quality" box checked on FB.

Let me see what I can find out. I've just emailed Jeffrey Friedl who writes the best LR/FB plug-in (http://regex.info/blog/lightroom-good...), as if anyone knows, he will.

Jeffrey said there aren't any quality options in the Facebook upload API that all plug-ins use so they may be saving the 'don't recompress' option for their own UI. It doesn't sound like something Adobe or Jeffrey can change at this point in time.

Just to make sure I understand this correctly, no matter if I alter the publish settings for the Facebook Publisher to allow Maximum resolution/quality, Facebook is going to restrict me from publishing it to that resolution/quality UNLESS I utilize their uploader and click the "High Quality" box?

Thanks!

That's what I'm currently finding out. So far with the Flickr plugin it's true to settings, when you set high quality, it uploads as full resolution (as I can tell). But no such luck with the FB LR uploading. I've ended up exporting at highest quality then uploading in their FB uploader in the browser.

. . . which effectively defeats the purpose of the FB plugin; at least for those of us that want maximum quality res - but . . . who wouldn't want that option?

I guess Facebook are trying to drive people to their website, where you see their ads, etc.
