Photoshop CC 2014.2.0: Extreme Lag

Twice now I've had situations where I'll open Photoshop, try to open a photograph or new document, and the interface will stall to the point where most people would think the software is frozen.

I'm a long-time Photoshop user, and I've only seen this behavior take place in the newest update (2014.2.0)

I'm on Windows 7, and the software doesn't actually seem to "lock up" (ie: fade to white when you click on it, because it's no longer responding), but the interface doesn't respond to my interactions for an incredibly long time.

For example, just opened a photograph and pulled up Curves (ctrl+m). The interface locked up before I was able to see my adjustment. After waiting for almost a minute, the image did get brighter, but the interface was still pretty unresponsive.

The other day I was trying to create a new document, paste in an image from the web (jpeg), and upon starting a transform (Ctrl+T), the interface locked up.

My colleague working on a similar Windows 7 PC had the same problem once recently.

It's not easily reproducible, so this may be a hard bug to squash.

Are you using a tablet?

Can you make a copy of your prefs (so we can get a copy if they turn out to be culprit) and then restore them to their default?

Restoring your preferences: http://blogs.adobe.com/crawlspace/201...

Let me know if that clears up the problem.
