Expunging Embedded Camera Profiles Made With DNG Profile Editor

How do I clear or reset the embedded camera profiles I created from DNG Profile Editor? As I was learning how to use DNG Profile Editor (DNGPE), I have created improper nomenclature with the "embed if used" option. My question is, I see several improperly named profiles embedded in my DNGs.

How do I expunge those profiles and start from scratch? I deleted any .dcp files I made in: C:\Users\[UserName]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles

When I open a DNG file in question where the old profile was embedded, I could see that old profile in the Camera Calibration.

[REDACTED: I attached my CR 7.3 Beta screenshot. How do I made those redundant profiles and I cannot figure out to prevent the profiles I made from appearing in CR/LR?].

Am I making sense? Please render asssistance; your help is sincerely appreciated. Having used PhaseONE CaptureONE PRO since 2008, I am re-learning Camera RAW (and Lightroom 4.x).

Yours cordially,

Ronald

Camera Profiles can be embedded into DNGs. This makes them more portable and easier to archive--no need for the recipient or archive location to contain the original .dcp files; however, in your case, you don't want the embedded profiles, anymore.

For each DNG you can change the profile in the Camera Calibration section of Develop and then re-embed the new profile using Library -> Metadata -> Update DNG Previews and Metadata, or at least Library -> Metadata -> Save Metadata to File(s).

If you want to reset all the settings to the current LR defaults, then highlight the files in the Library Grid View and press the Reset All button.

UPDATE

My above actions were futile. :-(

I could simply ignore the profiles I created. For organizational and sanity purposes, I don't want CR/LR to recognize the badly named files. I am particular about file nomenclature.

It should work, but try things with a new catalog containing a single DNG, rather than all your DNGs. Import the one DNG, change its profile, update DNG preview and metadata, remove the DNG from the catalog, exit LR, re-enter LR, create a new catalog and re-import that DNG and see what profiles are listed.

I did that and still didn't work. :-(

All are DNGs are reset to Camera Faithful AND I used the option to embed fast data.

This isn't detrimental. I only brought it up because I wanted to attempt at getting rid of my bad file naming. I'll just ignore (for the time being). I use PhaseONE CaptureONE PRO 7 anyway.

Thanks for the help Steve.

Do you see the extraneous camera profiles listed while you have the newly created catalog open that contains only a single DNG that wasn't imported until after it was reset and its metadata updated? Or do you only see the extraneous profiles when looking at the DNGs in your original catalog where they were imported before you reset them?

Hi Steve,

Thank you for caring and wanting to help. I uninstalled my LR 4.3 RC and using the Camera RAW interface.

I have chosen to ignore the extraneous profiles I created. I started this thread hoping to clean the bad naming (from my attached screen shot). Thank you once again for your help.

I am going to stop watching this thread now.

Yours sincerely,

Ron
