Exposure Adjustment Layer: Odd Gamma Correction Behavior

The Exposure Adjustment Layer seems to produce different results when using the gamma correction slider than other methods of gamma correction such as a LUT or moving the middle slider of the Levels tool. Not sure if this is a bug or is the expected functionality but it seems to produce odd results with the black point/near black areas.

Example of what I'm talking about. Specifically near the bottom end of the curve.

Exposure Adjustment Layer > Gamma Correction: 0.50

Levels Adjustment Layer > Middle Slider: 0.50 (or a gamma LUT)

Which software, which version? Elements has no exposure adjustment layers.

Photoshop CC2019, I wasn't aware if Elements had the Exposure tool so I just crossposted it.
