It would be a very nice feature to be able to save as PDF. Then stories can be saved as a more permanent format for viewing in 20 years when the slate service may not be accessible.

I would love to be able to download my story to a pdf. I know it would not be as fun, but I could share it easily with non-ipad users.

I agree.

Our generation is creating wonderful content, but the information is rarely able to be archived or preserved for posterity. A PDF archive, even if somewhat ugly, would be a way to help.

If you can export it to PDF, then Adobe loses control of it!

Hmmm. Why doesn't Adobe just make their PDF format more immersive and able to handle smoother UI transitions? It's already got a lot of interactive capability, from including 3D models, movies, linked navigation, etc. It's just sooo clunky. If Adobe just smooths out the kinks and makes the PDF format more immersive and engaging, this could well be the standard in offline/online publishing.

Think of it as Adobe Director (remember Director?) self executables but for this century.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Slate: Ability to print/output to PDF.

Need to register copyright for the Slates. This requires printing the Slate in PDF and submitting. Users have three months once the Slate has been posted to file copyright to protect the work. This also allows us to receive damages for copyright and attorney fees. Without that news organizations, bloggers and others can use the work with little recourse.

Please reply and advise when this will be done. Thanks you for your time!

If Slate does not provide PDF printing, then this becomes a huge issue for users who wish to protect their work.
