Lightroom: Export catalog from folder crashes and corrupts catalog

Clicking a folder and right click to get "export folder as catalog" freezes in process and will not respond to cancel. After forcing LR (CC 2015.4) to close the catalog is corrupted and can not be recovered.  Mac El Capitan on a MacBook Pro.  This was fully repeatable! Did it three times!(Thank god for Time Machine and catalog back ups!). The folder for the catalog was created on the flash drive but was empty. My last effort was to use the menu, File, Export as Catalog, which worked as expected.  Was exporting to a 128gig Corsair flash drive, which I have used before.

This is a nasty bug and the only one I have ever personally experienced of this severity. Something is SERIOUSLY broken.

Cost me a lot of lost time and some very anxious moments.  I use my laptop in the field then merge the laptop catalog with my desktop.

Does this only happen when exporting the catalog to the thumb drive? Or does it also happen saving to some place local, like your desktop?

I am not able to reproduce the crash nor the catalog corruption issue that you are seeing in your test.

Is the exported catalog corrupted or your original catalog? What does the crash log say? Did you submit the crash log to Adobe with your email address? Does it happen on every folder that you tried to export?

Does the same issue happen if you export the folder as catalog to your internal MBP SSD drive?
