Hi,

I've been working on these file all day and close to the end of the day, I started getting this message...

"The type layers in this document were rasterized because something prevented the text engine from being installed."

I don't get it. It's rasterizing all of the fonts and I've already lost some of the work I did. Can someone please help? Thanks!

Howdy Ryan,

Which application and version are you running? What OS? Are you running some font management application? Are there particular fonts you're dealing with?

The more info, the better we can help.

Thanks,
David

Same happened with me. If it helps, I'm running Photoshop CC 14.2.1 x64 on Windows 7, also x64 and the only font management app I'm using is the Typekit tool from Adobe.

Hi Victor,

Let me see if I can help get to the bottom of this problem....

Are you getting this error consistently? Are there any particular steps you are performing? Do you get this with any file or with one particular file? Would you be okay sending me a copy of the file with the problem?

Thanks,
David

Is it possible to repair this file ?

Did you, by chance, click Layer > Duplicate Layer?

Have you tried saving the file, exiting PS, relaunching PS, and trying then?

Thanks,
David

Yes, duplicate just duplicate resterized layer.
Saving just save file with resterized layers.
I check this file on 3 machines with: PSCC (up to date), CC (not updated - known bug but I haven't got time to deal with it) and CS6.

The actually message I get it:
"Some of the the type layers in this document were resterized because an error prevented them from being read."
Double "the" is also there.

That's what I thought.  This bug will be addressed in an upcoming release of Photoshop.  We are aware of it and will hopefully have a solution to users soon.

Thanks,
David

Then you really have a different error entirely, so I'm branching this to a new topic where we can discuss the problem you are seeing.

Please reference the new conversation here: PHOTOSHOP CC 2015 - can't open a file because of a program error
