Photoshop 7 is pretty old.

And scanner drivers can cause problems at launch due to bugs in the TWAIN drivers for the scanner. (more recent versions of Photoshop made the TWAIN plugin optional, because so many buggy scanner drivers were crashing Photoshop)

Try disabling the TWAIN plugin in the Photoshop plugins folder - that should let you launch, but means you'll have to scan outside of Photoshop.

It is old, but it's what I got.....so what you gonna do.. Anyway thank you responding. How do I disable the twain plugin, do I need to delete from folder or can I move temporarily or what? Thanx again.

One other thing. I was thinking about upgrading to 7.01 thinking that might solve the problem. Should I try that?

Just moved it and PS is working. Thank You again. Think this is probably the best and easiest work around for me. Don't mind scanning and then bringing into PS.

Yes, you can move the plugin out of the plugins folder, or change the name to start with ~

And yes, you should install the upgrade if you haven't already. (actually, you should have done that about 10 years ago (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adobe_Ph...)).

I had the same problem with CS2 and an Epson Artisan 730. PS crashed every time it tried to load the twain drivers. I am so glad I checked here. I was about to give up and uninstall the printer. I too can live with scanning outside of PS. Can't live without my old PowerMac.
