Photoshop/Lightroom: Print colors aren't correct Epson SC P5000

Hi, I I recently bought an Epson SC P5000 for fine art prints.
I have some annoying problems printing from Photoshop and Lightroom. The prints are of low quality when compared to the same ones obtained from the Epson software. I kept the same settings in both Photoshop and Lightroom as in the Epson software. One detail that made me realize the difference in quality lies in the actual printing time: the highest quality print in Photoshop and Lightroom lasts 1min40sec while it lasts 4min with the epson software. How can this be possible? I currently work with a Macbook pro Mid 2015, 2.8 GHz Intel Core I7 processor, AMD Radeon R9 M370X graphics card 2048 MB Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB. Can you kindly help me understand the problem and how to fix it? Thank you very much,
Marco

I don't understand: The prints are of low quality when compared to the same ones obtained from the Epson software.
LR and PS use the Epson driver, is that what you're using? Is it the driver from Epson, NOT updated by Apple?
What Epson software are you taking about if not the native print driver?
You need to be testing output with a color reference document like this:

Start testing with just on application, probably Photoshop.

Hi Andrew, the prints from Ps and Lr have a significant disturbance in the midtones and shadows (small dots ...). These are not present in prints produced with Epson Print Layout.Si, Ps and Lr use Epson Driver correctly updated.
What do you mean by saying: NOT updated by Apple? Thank you.

Apple's software update can update some print drivers; you don't want to ever use them. You want to be using the drivers directly from Epson. You may need to totally delete the current driver, go to Epson's site and download the version for your printer and reinstall.

Then maybe do the Epson Enema and install both drivers (from Epson) again:
  1. Delete all instances of Epson printers from System Preferences>Print & Fax.
  2. Then go to /Library/Printers and toss the whole Epson folder.
  3. Toss LFP Remote Panel (IF you are using this utility for your printer).
  4. Then reinstall drivers from Epson and never Apple.

When you go back to Print & Fax to add the printer, on 10.X I had to wait almost a minute before the IP version of the printer showed up, whereas the Bonjour one shows up right away. Then add the IP instance of the printer. This is for printers on a network.

Then re-install LFP Remote Panel if you use it with this printer.

Now test the Printer Test File image, after of course setting the driver correctly and using Photoshop Manages Color and selecting the right ICC paper profile.

Hi Andrew,

I tried what you have told me but no success.. The printer takes only 1min and 30 secs for printing an image at the best quality with Ps and Lr. It takes 4min with Epson Software... I’m sure all the settings I used in Ps are correct.
The prints are very different.
I have the last version of Mojave on my Mac. Maybe there’s incompatibility between the p5000’s driver and that system? Sincerely I can’t find a way to come out from this... thank you.

In that driver is there an option for clicking on a "16-bit" checkbox? You want to be printing through PS or LR.
