Lightroom: Crop tool - display the cropped size

Hi,

Currently, when using the crop tool in Lightroom, absolutely no information about the current (cropped) size of the image is displayed (unless I missed something). Which is very surprising for a cropping tool. Paradoxically, the cropped size of the image is only available in the Library module, in the Metadata panel.

Having this information handy while cropping would be very useful in many cases, however.

Anyone supporting this idea?

If you toggle with the [ I ] key (Info) it will take you through two sets of information and then back to blank. In View>View Options s>Loupe View you can specify Cropped Dimensions as one of the pieces of information.

That's good, and I have that set. The problem is it doesn't show the information while you are cropping. You have to let go of the tool and then look at the information. Then, if it isn't what you wanted, you have to crop again, and again, and again...... I shoot a lot of sports, which means the framing of a shot is iffy, at best. When cropping, to allow 8x10 prints at 300dpi it would be good to be able to crop close to, or exactly to, 3000 pixels on the long edge. What I do now is crop to what I think is 3000, let go of the tool. See that it is 3246 on the long edge. Crop again. See that it's 2921. Crop again. See that it's 3009. Give up and accept that number.

Another way of accomplishing this would be to allow exact pixel crops instead of only proportions or aspect ratios.

The Any Crop plugin shows the current dimensions (in pixels, inches, or centimeters) while you are cropping.  It also lets you create presets to crop at an exact pixel size.

It's not nearly as convenient as having that functionality built-in, but it gets the job while waiting for Adobe to implement it.

Thanks. I may check that out. It's a shame it requires a plugin to do this.

I knew I was missing something, thanks. However, I'd prefer to have this info in real-time in the Crop panel.
