With the publish module more and more of our photos get published on social network.
On some of these network people can tag your photos if you allow it(for example face tagging is one of the most popular shared tagging activity).
Why not take advantage of this and re-import the the tags in LR.
for example tags from facebook could be reimported in a hierarchical tree
Facebook / tag - Facebook / people / tag ,....
that would save a lot of work.
For example when you have old school photography you may not remember everybody, but your friends on the photo will
Or when you take a photo of an insect you may not be a specialist and won't be able to tell what it is.
Or that photo you took last year in Vietnam, you cannot remember where exactly it was taken from, but your vietnamese friend that was there, certainly will,.....

Typically, a good publish end-point will support multiple sharing on upload based on the account or tag. Asking the publish service to do all of this is onerous.

As for syncing comments and other remote metadata back to the published images, Adobe already has hooks for this that some publish service authors use (I do for my plugin) so that support is already there. Tags and comments can already be synchronized.
