Elements Organizer and Bridge: Freeze in Adobe Photo Downloader when you click Choose

  • Solved
After installing the Camera Raw 6.5 update, when using Elements 9 Organizer or Bridge CS5/5.5 to import images from your camera or card reader, the Adobe Photo Downloader will become unresponsive if you click the Choose button to change the Save Location. This issue does not affect Elements 10 Organizer.

Since I downloaded the ACR 6.5 upgrade, along with the PhotoDownloader freezing up, I've also noticed that any and all linked movie clips embedded on my Facebook page will run, but WITHOUT any audio. No audio adjustments operate whatsoever..I can play CD's on my MacBookPro with no problem with the audio controls working. Hope this gives you another clue to resolving the ACR 6.5 bug.

Hmm. Loss of audio in a webpage sounds coincidental/unrelated but we are aware of the downloader issue.

Jeffrey,
I believe my observation was more of a coincidence, also...my bad. Prolly more of a FB issue. Anxious for the Photo Downloader/ACR 6.5 fix...continued good luck in your repair efforts.

Many thanks for the quick respones, this is a work around and it does work good.
However i'm quite shocked, that Adobe release software, presumably unchecked, with such bugs, and no final solution offered.
I expect Adobe to provide a fixed update immediately.

Why does the uploader for my bridge for CS5 freeze. It has been working since I got CS5 the day it was released. I am using the same camera a 5D MarkII. Nothing has changed. Once it freezes it will not quit. I am working on a mac.

If you have lightroom import through it or use your cameras program. I am no longer using bridge or downloader ,since I have the same problem and am running leopard also. Until photoshop does an update that corrects this problem it seems the only way to get around it.

Adobe people,
Would it be possible for you to post the 6.4.1 plugin (not the whole installer) for those of us who can't locate a copy and for whom the installer fails? Downgrading the plug-in seems to be working for a lot of folks and this could give your developers a little more time to work on a solution.

Thanks,
Ric

I am surprised that Adobe haven't released a fix for the Bridge Photo Uploader, since the latest release of ACR 6.5 - Any ideas how long we are going to have to wait?

Release Candidate 6.6 seems to have addressed the problem. And they added raw support for some new cameras which may be why it took so long.

I've just checked Adobe Updates and it's telling me I'm up to date. Is the 6.6 version available yet? Am I missing something?, or will we have to wait a little longer?

You need to go to Adobe Labs for a release candidate (RC) download: http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/camer...

Unless users discover something bad, an RC build will often become the "gold master" (GM) that is released as the formal update.

Adobe Bridge 5.1 Photo Downloader. Using this on Mac OSX. Everytime you choose to change the folder that you will save your photos into it crashes. This happens on my own home copy of the software and was replicated on the Macs at the University where I teach. It was most humiliating during a class when it simply wouldn't work, students couldn't download their photos and we had to use iPhoto instead.

I am running Bridge CS5 4.0.5.11 on Mac OS 10.6.8. I am having the problem where photo downloader freezes if you attempt to choose a download location instead of accepting the default location provided. I have re-set preferences and followed Adobe's posted instructions to check and see that ADPreferences.xml is set to "read/write". It is. I toggled it to "read only" and back to "read/write" just in case that might help. It did not.

What can I do to get this to work again? It worked fine until I updated to the current version a couple weeks ago.

My new Adobe Bridge won't allow me to select a destination folder for my images when I'm downloading from my Canon 7D. When I try to select a folder all the buttons become inactive and I have to force quit the application.
