Elements: CanoScann 9000 indicates it's busy

After successfully using PhotoShop Elements 11 for some time, it suddenly could not connect to my CanoScan 9000...indicates it is busy. It is not busy and I would like to regain ability to use scanner again...any solutions?

Have you tried cycling the power to the scanner and restarting your computer?
