After some time of using PhotoShop Elements 8 with no problems, I am now unable to open Organizer from the Welcome page (or anywhere else such as Editor). When I click on "Organizer", I get a message that it has unexpectedly crashed. I am using Windows 7.

I added a comment to a similar (but not the same) problem. I was somewhat rude but I did receive a reply asking for more information. So here is what I know:(1) the catalog is large, more than 15k pix (wasn't told that this could be a problem). (2) On last Thursday or Friday, I added about 150 pix to the catalog including about 2 video files. I was able to see all the pix and videos. I added tags to each pix and did simple edits to about 20 of them. I tried to share these with Kodak (through Organizer) but wasn't able to connect (this usually happens). So I copied the 20+ files to a thumb drive and uploaded the files to Kodak going around the Organizer. Every thing seemed to work fine and I closed the program. Later that afternoon, I opened PSE, got the welcome screen and then clicked on Organize - and it crashed. (3) I uninstalled PSE and reinstalled it but nothing changed - still crashes. (4) Looking at other replies, I tried opening Organizer while holding down the shift key - still crashed. The crash report reads as follows:

Hi Tom,

Please follow the following steps:
Step-1: Go to location 'C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Elements Organizer '. You will find a folder named 7.0.
Step-2: Rename this folder.
Step-3: Now go to location: 'C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Elements Organizer'. Here there will a folder named 'catalogs'.
Step-4: Rename this folder.

After performing these steps when you will launch Organizer (launch organizer from program files). Organizer will launch asking you to create a catalog. Click on 'new' button and name the catalog. Press 'OK'.
Once EO is launched, you can later copy your catalog to newly created folder at to 'C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Elements Organizer\catalogs'.

Let me know if you face any problem.

Thanks.

I won't know if this works. I posted the issue two months ago and, other than a snarky answer to a post I made on another question (referenced above), I heard nothing. I needed access to my photos. So, I purchased an upgrade PSE (10) which seems to work fine (or as good as 8 worked originally). I feel like an idiot - basically, I rewarded Adobe (buying a new version) for their failure to provide good service. Two months is way too long.
