What type of file are you working with? RAW, CR2, NEF, etc...

What camera is the file from?

Is the camera supported by Camera Raw 5.2? Check here: Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras

If your camera is newer than the last version of ACR that your version of Elements supports then it won't work. Adobe only updates the version of ACR for the current version Elements with new cameras, and the current version of Elements is 10.

If your camera is supposed to be supported by older ACR 5.2, then check if Elements is using that version or not by doing Help / About Plug-ins... / Camera RAW... and look what version it reports, and also note how many Camera RAW... entries there might be. There should only be one Camera RAW plug-in entry, but if you have multiple versions of the plug-in installed, somehow, then Elements may be seeing the older one that was not updated, rather than the newer one that was installed most recently. This can usually be resolved by removing the instances of ACR that are too old, but until you know how many you have and where they are it's hard to know how to remove them.

I actually had gto install the 5.4 version of the plug in and now it does work,. I do still get a weird message when i open my PSE7. it says something about cameraraw.8bi isnt supported with this software" but I click ok. and it does open. and I can open and edit RAW. SO I guess my main issue is solved.

Thank you both for replying!
