Elements 10: cannot import photos "File not found"

I just upgraded from Elements 8 to Elements 10 - and wish I hadn't! There is a big problem importing photos from my hard drive - I keep getting the message "File not found. Please verify the correct file name was given". These are the original named files from my camera and I have NO problem importing them into Elements 8. It is driving me crazy so have had to revert to using Elements 8.
By the way, I can't even access the Adobe website to put my question as it just keeps getting stuck on Screen Name, after I have logged in, and won't move any further/ Grrrrrrr ... feeling very frustrated with Adobe today!!!

What OS version are you using?

Is there anything odd about the location of the files, or the path to the files?

Dear Chris:
I am using Windows 5.1.
The files are in the same location they always were, i.e., C drive, My Documents, My Pictures. As I said, I have no problem importing files into Elements 8.
I hope you can solve my problem, as I really would prefer to start using Elements 10 as soon as possible.
Thanks and regards
Gaye
