Elements Organizer 2019: Still no face tags in metadata?

Lightroom reads and writes XMP-rgw-rs face tags since years.
Why don't you implement that feature in the Organizer?
When will face tags read and written by it? Elements 2020?

My only guess is that the Organizer has had many problems to iron out as it is.   It is a bulky program.  To save face tags could take more resources while operating the Organizer right along with the editor for some users.

My suggestion is to separate the Organizer, to an independent program then it won't rob as many resources and separately, adding more tag operations would make it stronger and better.

Offering a photo editor, and video editor and an organizer in a bundle would be a higher price but later the pricing would subside to the same old pricing we are accustomed to, $99 or $79-sale.

As more people are complaining about the organizer, I think it should be run separately.  Most of us who don't use it, use Windows as we can tag our own self constructed system with lots of folders, almost in the same way.

There are other organizer users here.   I invited their input.

Hi Stefan,

You are now asking the same question in two different threads, this one and:
https://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/tagging-in-pse14-is-not-sticking-in-metadata

This is not how this feedback forum works and it's not the best way for your purpose which is to:
1 - ask for a missing feature
2 - ask for the reason the feature is not present.

As just another organizer user, I'll anwer question #2: if the reason is mainly a matter of policy or product lines strategy, don't hope to get an answer here.
Why don't you implement that feature in the Organizer?
After all, your precise question is about saving face recognition data to the files, and that is not needed if you intend to stay with future Elements version, or to migrate to Lightroom. Lightroom can convert PSE catalogs and, if you say so, write face metadata to files. No need to make migrating from PSE to a third party editor easier.

When will face tags read and written by it? Elements 2020?
When?
If you browse this forum, you'll see that it's the type of question which Adobe Staff is forbidden to answer if they don't have a precise, scheduled answer. It's mandatory for big companies in the Stock Exchange.

So, if you want opinions from other organizer users, keep in mind that we have all different opinions and needs, so Adobe must weigh each feature or bug request. That's precisely why it's more efficient to follow a single discussion than to split it into multiple similar threads. The number of votes is very important to prioritize a request. It happens that the other three years old thread has not caught much attention. Much less than people coming from Picasa and wanting to recover their tagging. Much, much less than people complaining about face recognition in Elements (as well as in LR CC or classic).

You have to realize that PSE has a wide bunch of users who are mainly interested in photo editing and creation as well as managing family albums. They don't need face recognition, face recognition is no help for them, it's not up to users expectations and above all, the features require powerful configs and takes too much power from the software.

So, yes, there are a number of users who are strongly against face recognition. Adobe has other ways than this forum to know. I don't care about face recognition because I am very serious in tagging people, not faces. My library includes thousands of digital photos and scans. I spend a lot of time with family history and genealogy. I don't trust FR for accuracy and I can tag people much faster, more flexibly while ignoring the tens of thousands faces in my library I don't care about. I can retrieve people by name, first name, married name, nickname, family branch. I can retrieve any name from a captions including fifty different names (the big strength or the text search).

It's good if a feature I don't care about makes PSE more popular, but in this case...

Thanks you for your effort and insights.

I understand this much better now.

I did not mean to double post. I wanted to add an status update to the other question. But of course you are right about the likes.
