Elements 8: Always recognized my scanner. But it doesn't work on a new computer.

PSE 8 worked well with my Canoscan 9950F. When I upgraded to PSE 12 I learned it wouldn't communicate with a TWAIN driver. Because I scan often, I kept 8 and used both for different purposes. A change of computer required me to reinstall them, and now 8 no longer recognizes the scanner.

When I turned the scanner on, a pop-up said the driver was successfully installed. I tried restarting the computer, but that didn't help. Advice, please! Thanks.

What OS version are you using?
Have you installed the TWAIN plugin in Elements?
Did you download and install a driver appropriate for your OS version from Canon's website?

Problem solved, thanks! I went to the Canon website and installed the driver (the one I thought had been installed yesterday). Everything works. Thanks again.

I'm using Win7, just as I did before. As I mentioned, the driver installed successfully. Elements 8 never required the TWAIN plugin, as far as I know. I believe the need started with Elements 9.

But I just had a thought: When I go to File -> Import (in Elements 8), the options show Frame From Video. Does this mean Premiere Elements is involved? I have two disks, both labeled Adobe Photoshop Elements 8 & Adobe Premiere Elements 8. One also says Content, but I used the other one for the installation. I unchecked Premiere, but did I end up installing it anyway?

If so, how do I install only Elements, without Premiere?

Thanks!

Yes, the TWAIN plugin is optional - because so many TWAIN drivers just crash on launch.
Download and install the TWAIN plugin for Elements.
And does your scanner not have a WIA driver as well?

I wasn't able to find out if the scanner has a WIA driver. It's not a current model, but it does a great job with various sizes of negatives.

I tried moving the Import-Export file (Optional Plug-Ins) to the Plug-In folder (PSE 12), but it made no difference. Elements 8 doesn't have an Optional Plug-Ins file. Is there a site where I can download/install the TWAIN plugin?
