GUI fonts hardly readable on my screen (1920x1080, 11.5 x 6.5 inch) and therefore not usable for me. Needs to be selectable for different screen sizes/resolutions.

Hi,

On which machine you are working?

could you please change the Scale factor of photoshop elements to 200% and then try. For this:
1. Go to Edit -> Preferences -> Displays and Cursors.
2. Change the UI scale Factor to 200%
3. Relaunch the application

Thanks,
Rupali

Thank you for your reply. This does not help. It will change the fonts of the editor to an oversize but will not effect the organizer.

You can try changing the system font size in Windows. This will make the fonts larger.

Thanks again. This feature unfortunately is not a solution to really work with the editor permanently. I just wanted to find out if somebody else would be unhappy with the GUI because the Adobe help desk couldn't offer any solution either.

Johannes,
You have been given the right advice.
Especially, you say 'it would change the font size of all other apps on my computer too'. Just try it. The other applications will need the same amount too (125% generally).
Your major problem is that your resolution is simply too high for your purpose (editing and organizing on a small display). It would be ideal for editing on a 21" to 24" desktop display. If you can't read the fonts comfortably, the high resolution is wasted, you can't see the difference.
Simply set your display resolution to a lower resolution or follow the advice from Terril Harris.

Michel,

I appreciate your help. With 125% the fonts in the organizer are getting bigger, however, not so in the editor (e.g. the menu bar). But obviously the fonts in the sub menus of the editior are getting bigger if I  change the menu font size in windows too. This is really puzzling.

Yes, the editor and organizer have been developped separately years ago and the fonts are managed differently, using different tools from Windows. Furthermore, the interface of the organizer has been totally revamped with Elements 11.
According to Adobe, Windows still misses the adequate routine to provide fully scalable interface fonts. The result is that Elements, Photoshop and Bridge for instance can only be scaled by the 200% ratio, not intermediate ones like 150%.
So, people with real HiDpi resolution have a workable solution, and those with intermediate resolution are not satisfied.

Michel,

I came to the same conclusion. Thanks again for your assessment.
